The Wall Street Journal reports:
As shoppers begin to feel the recession lifting and tiptoe back into spending, some mall stores are seeing a small window of opportunity to woo them in a new way: big-ticket handbags
"It doesn't matter if you're feeling fat or thin on that day. A bag's always going to fit," says Dianna Baros, a fashion blogger and editor of TheBudgetBabe.com. Women in the U.S. purchased 375.9 million handbags last year, according to market research firm NPD Group Inc., or between two to three bags each.
Somebody in marketing understands psychology.
Going into the fitting room can be emotionally devastating. Hey, if you don't like your looks/size/proportions, don't waste your precious dollars on clothes, just buy a new purse. The bigger the better, it will make you look skinnier.
